Denny Elwer Named to University of Northwestern Ohio Hall of Fame

 

     Delphos resident Denny Elwer was recently inducted as the first member of the University of Northwestern Ohio hall of fame. He was awarded a plaque by university President Dr. Jeffrey Jarvis in honor of Elwer’s participation on the university’s first basketball teams in 1971 and 1972. He was the leading scorer with 1,137 points during both seasons — compiling a 45-14 mark. He was the head coach from 1979-82 (71-33 overall mark), athletic director (1979-87), vice president of student services (1984-94) and VP of campus life (1994-97). He currently lives near Delphos with his wife, Cindy.
